🎯 Calls to Action and Goals This Month
This month we are focused on:
- Raising visibility on the impacts of DOGE in Columbus
- Setting up an in-person meeting with Sanford Bishop and other local representatives
- Organizing a protest against DOGE/Musk
- Highlighting our 3 priority bills in the State Legislature
Things we need to achieve our Goals
We’re gathering real stories from the people of Columbus about the impact of DOGE — and your voice could help change everything.
These stories will go straight to our representatives, the Ledger-Enquirer, researcher Abigail Andre, and will be shared during upcoming protests. They are powerful tools to show the real-world consequences and demand action.
If you are a veteran, a farmer, a Social Security beneficiary, a DOD worker, or a VA worker or patient — your experience is especially critical.
If you know someone who fits these groups, please reach out and encourage them to share.
This is your chance to be heard.

We Hear Your Cries for More Protests!
We are so excited to see the energy building for more protests — and we want to keep that momentum going!
Here’s the truth: the six of us who organized the last protest are also the ones coordinating meetings, managing committees, speaking at City Council, and putting together everything you’re reading here — all while balancing full-time jobs and family life. We’re stretched thin, and we need new leaders to help build what’s next.
If you’re fired up, if you have organizing experience (or just serious protest energy), we want you to step up.
We’ll guide you, support you, and make sure you’re not doing it alone — but this is your moment to lead.
Want to help organize the next protest? ➔ Reply to this email.
Have connections to other local organizations who could get involved? ➔ Send them our way!
This movement is all of us — and it’s stronger when you bring your energy to the front lines. Let’s build it together.
Calls to action for the next 2 weeks
We’ve got a crucial window to make some noise, and every voice matters.
Here’s where we need you to step in and help move the needle:
Protect Access to IVF – Support HB 428
What it does: Safeguards access to IVF treatments in Georgia.
Where it stands: Passed the House unanimously — now headed to the Senate for a vote.
How you can help:
Contact the Chair of the Senate Rules Committee and urge him to bring HB 428 to the floor for a vote this session.
Thank your State Representative for supporting HB 428 — and ask them to be a champion for all reproductive rights moving forward.
Defend our Librarians – Oppose SB 74
What it does: Penalizes librarians for loaning so-called “harmful materials” to children — threatening intellectual freedom.
Where it stands: Passed the Senate — now moving to the House.
How you can help:
Contact the Vice Chair of the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee and ask her to vote NO on SB 74.
Email or call David Lewis at Muscogee County Schools (Lewis.David.F@muscogee.k12.ga.us / 706-748-2019) and ask how he plans to protect our local librarians if this bill passes.
Stop Discrimination – Fight SB 36
What it does: Would allow people to use religion as an excuse to discriminate — threatening civil rights and hurting Georgia’s economy.
Where it stands: Passed the Senate — now heads to the House.
How you can help:
Email the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce(tgetz@columbusgachamber.com)) and ask what they’re doing to oppose discrimination in our community.
Reach out to local businesses like Aflac, TSYS, or Synovus.
Ask their lobbyists (example contacts below) what they are doing to protect equality:
Robert Willis (AFLAC)
Ragen Marsh (AFLAC)
Sample message you can use:
“My understanding is you represent [Company] at the state capitol. We are proud to have [Company] in Columbus and know your success is tied to embracing all communities. I’m concerned about SB 36 and the door it opens for discrimination. Georgia’s economy and reputation will suffer if civil rights are undermined. Please help refocus legislators toward growth and away from discrimination.”
Search for more lobbyist contacts using this tool (example search: Delta Airlines).
Please share any new contacts you find in the Signal chat!
Email Mayor Henderson (SkipHenderson@columbusga.org) and ask how he plans to stand up against discrimination if SB 36 becomes law.
Bonus Actions: Get Loud and Get Visible
🌟 Light up the City!
Want to help with the Light Board project? Email Judy to get involved and raise visibility with messages like STOP SB 36 and STOP MUSK!
✍️ Write the Wrongs at the Georgia Capitol!
Indivisible Georgia Coalition is hosting weekly “Write the Wrongs” action days.
